I've almost finished Dark Prince by David Gemmell. Its the sequel to the Lion of Macedon, which followed the adventures of Parmenion "the Death of Nations" a Spartan/Macedonian Strategos, whose been hunted and haunted since his birth for being of mixed blood. Forced to flee Sparta he goes on to eventually Server Phillip of Macedonia as his general, while trying to protect young Alexander from the evil demon that threatens to enslave him.

It's an excellent read as one would come to expect from Gemmell, and probably one of his better works outside the Drenai Saga.
