Ok, so every news article out there has some story on A-Rod, Steroids and the Major Leagues.  And, all in all, there is a problem with baseball (or was a problem if you listen to the commissioner, or the head of the players association).  The problem is/was that there was a substance that would give you shorter recovery times after major injuries, or give your muscles additional treatments which would allow them to heal quicker after exersion (like lifting or conducting some type of sports action).  That problem appears to have been snuffed out and the Media is now having a frenzy pointing out all the people that 'did bad' in the past.  Hey, I can't say that if I was in the Majors that I wouldn't have done it.  Hell, I know people that played sports in College and did it, and that was in the '90's too.

The big deal with this is that steroids, in and of themselves, don't give you a Barry Bonds career.  You have to have all the other tools too.  I guess the feeling of being 'cheated' by the media is a big enough story, but honestly, it's not HUGE.  The HUGE story should be that there are Hall of Famers that have been known to be drunks, bastards, and handled their lives poorly off the baseball field.  That's more of an issue with me.  Putting people like that on a pedistal such as the Hall of Fame is a slap in the face to people who do things right, like... well I'm afraid to say any Major League player.  For fear that he may have done steroids too.

But I digress.  In a few years, this will all be behind us and life will drive on.  People will go to the Hall with their records tarnished due to Steroids, but hey.  They are in good company...

I saw an advertisement on nfl.com the other day related to a Cleveland Browns History DVD.  I hope those Cleveland fans out there get it.  maybe they can put it on every Sunday at 1PM or 4PM and miss their team's game.  Because they too suck.  Cry

I'm getting ready to build my own custom beer pong table for my house.  I've checked out alot of sites and several youtube vids on how to build your own.  Seems rather simple.

The hard part was coming up for the design.  I've had some ideas, and generally, I want to keep it with the sports theme.  I believe I'm going to go with a Penn State log in the middle and some Penn State colors.  I've got a few designs drawn up, and would appreciate some advice or comments.  I plan on building it before October 18th, so make your comments fast.

Which one do you like?

OPTION #3 (This is someone elses, but will be modified.  In short, it would have grass, just not the beer pong logos on the table).

I'm in the market for a new TV.  I'm looking for a flat panel, either just simple HD or plasma.  If anybody has any recommended TV's (probably under $3K), email me @ mroberts@theshaolin.com or add comments.

I've listened to both sides and their press conferences and all I can say is the Raiders are all fucked up.  Al Davis is out of his mind.  He posted a letter that was supposidly written to him by Kiffen in a news conference?  Wow, this is bad.  I mean first, it's just unprofessional and second, after listening to Kiffin's response to the Raider news conference, it's just down right wrong.  You don't need to hold a conference and show that type of stuff.  What ever happened to 'what stays in the family is in the family'?  I think tomorrow I'm going to hold a news conference about how my family is all fucked up so I can show everybody how much they have wronged me.  Give me a break.  GET OVER YOURSELVES RAIDERS.  YOU SUCK.  STOP BLAMING KIFFIN.

Honestly, I think Kiffin is a good guy.  He's the son of Tampa Bay Buc's Defensive Coordinator, Monte Kiffin.  Knowing the Bucs like I do, I've followed Monte for awhile and I don't see him raising a kid that's so 'anti-management' that he does things to harm the organization.  I think if Al Davis polled the players (hey, create a blog with a poll) that he would find that he's the problem with the Raiders, not Kiffin.

And to poor ol Cable, the new Head Coach, sorry dude.  You got a LONG uphill battle to fight.  Name one coach, other than John Gruden (and Callahan, but he took over Chucky's team) that has had success with the Raiders in the last 15 years?  You can't.  Cuz the organization is run by a man out of his nogen.

Coaching in the NFL is one of the hardest professions out there.  You get criticized every week, win or lose.  You typically don't last but a few years in the same job and in most cases, you get fired.  I listened to ESPN today talk about the Lane Kiffin firing.  Funny part is, it's going to turn into a legal battle now since the Raiders "reportedly" aren't going to 'honor' his contract and they won't pay him any further.  Regardless what comes out in the wash (was Kiffin challenging authority, did he say things and do things wrong to deserve to be fired in the way he did), it will ultimately show that the NFL head coach is one of the suckiest jobs out there.  When it's good, it's great.  When it's bad, you have unions, courts, and owners involved in a bunch of BS.  I would love the opportunity to coach in the NFL one day, but this shit just sucks when you hear how messy it's gonna be.

Side note, Kiffin's wife is expecting a child in January.  Her biggest concern was where is she going to have the baby.  Will she be in Oakland or somewhere else... Well, I guess she knows the answer now.
