My Blog
Well, we finally pulled out a win at home after being winless at home for over a month. We beat up on Twin City last night, both metaphorically and literally, as we beat them 6-3 and there were a number of fights and scrums.
Now that the "visa" problems are taken care of, we've got a full roster again and it shows. The past few weeks the team has looked so tired, skating four men down. It really takes a toll on you after a while.
Matt Moreland was signed this week. He was with us last year, and I'm glad to see him back. In three games so far he has three goals and three assists. Look for him to ignite some much needed fire under the seats of our boys.
Well, the Panthers went to 10-3 with their big win over the Bucs last night on Monday Night Football. That means that if we win the next (and final) three games (Week 15 vs. Denver, Week 16 @ NY Giants, Week 17 @ New Orleans) we will take the first seed in the NFC. That would give us a bye week during the Wild Card round and guarantee us home-field advantage for the entire playoffs.
Denver and New Orleans might not give us too much trouble, but the trip to the Meadowlands will be tough. Here's hoping we can pull it off!
The holidays this year are going to suck. Every year of my life has been almost the same during the holidays: Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas morning at Grandma's. Alas, my Grandma passed away this summer, so that will not be the case this year.
I hate change, especially such a sad one such as this. I'm sure we will create a new tradition, with my wife and friends, but it still won't be the same. It will never be the same...
Most people who know me know my views on politics. But I'll share my views here, or at least a reserved, toned down version:
I hope that the people who voted for Obama based on what he says he will do in the future, instead of based on what he has done in the past, will not be eating crow in the next year or two. As an American, I truly hope that he succeeds, and that we prosper as a country under his watch. I hope everything I fear will happen does not come to pass. I hope I'm 100% wrong about Obama and that he's 100 times the President I'm scared he will be.
Well, picked up my copy of Fallout 3 at the midnight launch on Monday. I've played for about three hours and I'm impressed.
Bethesda has stayed true to the style and humor of the series so far. Fallout has a very unique way of telling a story, and this third installment is no exception.
As I progress through the game, I'll share my thoughts on if this is a worthy successor or not to the series.
Stay tuned...
I've already written about my local SPHL team, the Fireantz, but the NHL season has already started and my NY Rangers are the best team in the league right now. It's nice to finally open up a season on a hot streak.
Our biggest rivals, the NY Islanders, are the worst team in the league, so it's just that much sweeter right now. My second team, The Hurricanes, are also doing well and lead their division early on.
Looks like this is shaping up to be a great hockey season, both here in the minors and in the NHL!
I saw a blonde joke today and feel like sharing:
I Want to Buy That
A blonde goes into a nearby store and asks a clerk if she can buy the TV in the corner.
The clerk looks at her and says that he doesn't serve blondes, so she goes back home and dyes her hair black.
The next day she returns to the store and asks the same thing, and again, the clerk said he doesn't serve blondes.
Frustrated, the blonde goes home and dyes her hair yet again, to a shade of red.
Sure that a clerk would sell her the TV this time, she returns and asks a different clerk this time.
To her astonishment, this clerk also says that she doesn't serve blondes.
The blonde asks the clerk, "How in the world do you know I am a blonde?"
The clerk looks at her disgustedly and says,"That's not a TV -- it's a microwave!"
14 days and counting!
It's 14 days too many.
Hockey season is almost here. I can't wait. I've missed the chill of the arena, the sounds of the crowd, the Miami Subs burgers dripping with mustard.
We have what looks like a great team this year. Hopefully we can go all the way and bring the Cup back to Fayetteville...
I hate stupid people.
Two days ago, one of these stupid people decided to 'tag' my car with spray-paint. They left a nice black streak down the driver's side of the car. Lucky for me, it was done in the early morning and the car was covered in dew. The latex (ie, water-based) paint mostly wiped right off of the car.
So, not only was this individual stupid enough to vandalize my car for no reason (well, no GOOD reason), but they didn't even do a good job...
Ugh... house hunting.
Why, in such a buyer's market, is it so hard to find the right house in my price-range? It seems like every house I can afford is either in a great neighborhood and falling apart, or in great condition and in the ghetto...
My Realtor is great, I just think I haven't gotten lucky yet. Hopefully there is a house out there in good condition and in a decent neighborhood.
Hopefully...
