Amy Winehouse's spokesman says the troubled singer is being treated at a clinic following a reaction to medication.

Chris Goodman says Winehouse was admitted to the London Clinic on Sunday. He declined to identify the medication that caused the reaction.

The 25-year-old Grammy winner has a history of drug problems and has been in and out of hospitals this year.

On Monday, a British court rejected an appeal by Winehouse's husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, against his sentence for assault and obstructing justice. The judges urged him to continue making progress at a drug rehabilitation center.

What many people don't know about the historic city of Fayetteville, NC is that we were once the State Capitol. In 1789, the downtown area was wiped out by a great fire, which is what prompted the state to move the capitol to Raleigh. Located on the Cape Fear River, Fayetteville was a booming center of economy for many, many years.

While on a trip this weekend, I ran across a thought that disturbed me. How much do we base our self-worth on the material possessions we have? Women are judged by the label on their clothes, and even on their bags. Men are judged by the number of cylinders in their engine, and the gigs of ram in their latest PC. How have we devolved into such materialistic, judgemental creatures? I think I'll ponder it while I watch the new flat-screen TV I bought.....

Change is a sometimes wonderful, sometimes horrible thing. We can never avoid it, we can only embrace it. This lesson has been shown to me, especially in recent times. Those things you come to know as being absolute, rarely are. And those things you come to know as being rare, happen often. Such is the wonder, and mystery of life.

The family is an odd unit of people. They live together, love each other, learn and fight together. Yet, they are what make us who we are. The influence we receive as a child growing up, turns us into the people we one day become. Family is a wonderful, yet quirky thing.

Unfortunately, in recent days past, I had a death in the family. The services were fantastic, but something really got me thinking. Where will we be when it's time for my funeral? People have really lost the sense of respect and pride that used to come with the unity of family in time of loss. It's just proof of the further social degeneration of the world around us. People continually get more and more concerned with themselves, and less and less concerned with those around them. It's a sad state, and a sad world to live in.

In this uncertain time of economic turmoil, what is a safe investment choice? After a long personal review of financial decisions, my recommendations are as follows:

If you are concerned about simply getting a sure return on your investment, a stable CD from a credit union is a definite bet. Credit Unions are not part of the mortgage nightmare, and are generally a safer option.

However, if your desire is for a higher return, you'll need to go with a more risky financial investment. Stocks are the big money, but the problem is, if you don't have time to really monitor and predict your investments, you're looking at either a long wait for a large return, or a streak of dumb luck. If you know enough about the stock market (my big question is why you're reading this...) you should consider investing in a high-risk high-return, medium-risk medium-return, and a low-risk low-return stock.

Finally, for those of you who are seeking a happy medium between the two, consider a mutual fund. Mutual funds are the beginners option to stock trading. You provide the capital and there are qualified investors who will take your money, and choose wise investments and you will reek the profits. If this is what you're considering, you should look at the history of the mutual fund, as sometimes they too can be risky.

Whatever your decision, consider that the investments you make now, can become your retirement in the future!

Recently, I've been talking to people who love drinking their daily java. There is a surprising amount of misconception about how much caffiene is actually in expresso shots. The common thought is that it's stronger-flavor, so therefore, it's more caffinated. In reality, the longer a coffee bean is roasted, the less caffiene it actually contains. So the weaker-tasting, lighter-brewed coffees contain the most caffiene. Just some food for thought, the next time you step into your favorite java house and you need a morning jolt.
