My Blog
I chose to become a Libertarian for two reasons: (1) frustration at my choices for a Republican Presidential Candidate, (2) the total collapse of Republican leadership during Stimulus One. My points are meant to reinforce the belief that although passion about one's President is a good thing (I was a monumental Bush supporter), being critical of decisions made is healthy, it forced me to change affiliations. It's obvious the adulation towards PBO is over the top and dangerous to the country as a whole. It used to be we could depend upon our media to keep politicians honest, but as so many media outlets are in the tank for one side are the other, it's up to the common citizen now to caution pause.
I'm astonished PBO is operating with such high approval ratings. These first 100 days have culminated in (this authors opinion) failure. His cabinet nominations have been a debacle, he failed tremendously at the G20 and later Latin American summits, condemning (and sitting through condemnation of) America while getting not one single concession he was after, and his budget signing versus campaign rhetoric should give everyone cause for concern.
Hopefully PBO can turn it around, after all, we are only into this for 100 days and certainly there's time to right the ship; but if this President wishes to have any credibility with many of us here at home, he'd better start listening and paying attention to all sides, and not just blindly following political ideologies.
Sir, you are not familiar with who I am but felt it necessary to write and publish my apology to you.
I must say first that I've become quite devoted to your message here of late and am now fully convinced that your unheralded lone voice of reason within the hallowed halls of the House of Representatives is our greatest and potentially last hope for a bastion of true democracy our Founding Fathers envisioned for this great nation. It's a shame the recognition you are certainly deserving of comes not to the sounds of grandiose applause but in the form of this newspaper submission. It's a shame I was initially deaf to your vast warnings as my own thought processes were made numb by the lambasting you've been given at the hands of members of my own party, something now in retrospect I find as unforgivable offense as any; and it's a shame there aren't more American's out there who feel the way I do. Perhaps they are as uninformed and misled as I initially, and simply require further introduction to the man who is Ron Paul. Of everything I've read, listened to, and even witnessed your uncompromising character, your compassion for your fellow man, your unabashed service not only to our country but to your local district is something to be admired, respected, followed, emulated.
For me, it took watching the Presidential debates and hearing you say (if I may loosely quote), "If anyone here is a true conservative, it's me," before I began asking myself, "Who really is this Ron Paul fella?" You see, I'm a North Carolina Southern Republican (I'd rather now prefer calling myself a Free Thinking American Conservative), and find truth in many of the ominous forecasts you've presented, contrary to the beleaguered attempts by many on the Republican side of the isle to diminish in every way your character as ‘Un-American'. In fact, prior to my own self indoctrination on the realities of who you are was oft caught labeling you a kook; for you did not subscribe to right-winged philosophy of Conservatism and True Americanism. For this I find myself most apologetic and deeply ashamed. Any man with such stalwart and forthright convictions as you should not be made such an insignificant by members of a party yearning for truth, nobility, and morality. Because of you I've had to relearn all I've learned, reevaluate my positions on a great many things. I may still disagree with you on some issues, but of the true foundations in your arguments there can be no doubt, and I for one will never again allow myself to be so blinded by the arrogances of one party affiliation or another.
My humbled thanks and most sincere of apologies again sir, I wish more of our countrymen were as ardent Patriots as you.

I'm a 31 year old heterosexual single white male with a fairly promising career which equates to a well paying job. I have zero kids, never been married, a semi-regular churchgoer, and as of yet have failed to find a home I'd be interested in purchasing. No, this isn't an ad for local singles in your area; it's the makeup of an angry and abused segment of the American population - the Middle Class.
I'm mad and insulted that I should be forced to pay for other peoples poor decisions on how they wish to manage their private affairs. I'm continually reminded of this insult every time I drive past that multi-million dollar monstrosity called the DSS building. How about rewarding me for making good decisions, instead of penalizing me by taking more of my money and redistributing it to those who are unaccomplished in the art of self-discipline?
Now the government has chosen to further its slight against me by rewarding everyone in America with a rebate check in the amount of $300 or more. I however am still forced to cut a rather large check to Uncle-Sugar when the tax man cometh on April 15th, which is in addition to the exorbitant amount of money I've already paid into the system this past year. Someone please explain to me why my wealth is continually being redistributed to fund entitlements for people who, according to the constitution anyways, are not my responsibility to support?!?!?!
Dear Mom,
This Mother's Day I thought it especially nice to thank you for your wisdom, compassion, and many days of prayer. The examples you've set before me are the embodiment of unconditional love; always giving at your own expense and never wanting or asking anything in return.
However, as this day is also my 32nd birthday, I feel it necessary to share with you some recent revelations. Grown in wisdom or perhaps simply just slow and hard-headed (who knows), I've come to comprehend all the really remarkably stupid things I have done, understand fully the many nights I kept you awake, the expenses I created, and the toils I caused. As an apology would never show or do justice to how I'm feeling, I'm doing what I know how best to do. I'm writing this little letter for the entire world to see.
Mom, you are the most special person in my life and the greatest mother a son could ever have. I thank God everyday for you. Thank you for having me, thank you for standing by me all those countless times when I know it was hard to do. I hope this day; this Mothers Day is full of joy and happiness. You are a blessing in all that you do and the greatest Birthday present a son could ever have.
Your Ever Devoted and Loving Son
