My Blog
I've been a subscriber of XM radio for the latter part of 4 years and have enjoyed the experience. When news of the merger of XM and Sirius was made I was skeptical about the changes that would occur. Sure enough one of my favorite station, XM65 The Rhyme, was axed. Talk about pissed off. This was the true old school hip-hop station. In its place they have two stations that play the same music. Although this is one station I'm talking about they have essentially closed access to the essence of hip-hop. Kids growing up today are thinking that Soulja Boy and Weezy are the shit. Let them not forget who paved the way for these new acts to be famous. I guess I'll stick to my mix CDs as XM has lost a 4 year subscriber.
Every since I was young I have heard all the stories of the black men before me who stood up and fought for what was right for the African-American race. Every day there would be talk about how, as a race, we need to stand up. So many times I seen how we, as a race, went about demanding change the wrong way. Hence....The riots in Los Angeles over the Rodney King verdict was not a way to demand change and equality. So now we have come to 2008. 44 years after Dr. Martin Luther King stated that he had a dream that one day we will not be judged by the color of your skin but the content of your character. Yet many people has already judged President-Elect Barack Obama stating that he's too inexperienced to run this country. In my book every president that has taken office was inexperienced in running this country. It is what they do while they're there that determines what type of leader they are. Am I skeptical about Obama? Yes I am but hell I was skeptical about Both Bushes, Clinton and Reagan. Obama has some big shoes to fill, a myriad of problems to correct and a nation to unite in a time of an economical crisis. And for those who don't know this economic issue is global. He may not be able to solve every problem but I'm sure he will try his best to make so. So we wait until he takes office but for now we can all reflect on Sam Cooke's 1964 classic:
It's been a long, a long time coming......but I know......A Change Gonna Come.
